Equally indebted to Ornette Coleman, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and latter-day Black Flag, Many Arms’ jagged songs hit hard and hit often while remaining willing to take a turn towards the pretty or the weird when occasionally inclined. Throwing down the gauntlet with this release, the group slithers around the many contours of their sound with passion and precision. The 3" e.p. "Ocean of Snakes" is a fascinating opening salvo, catch them on tour in Europe and the west coast of the U.S. soon!
BIO:
Many Arms are Ricardo Lagomasino – drums, John DeBlase - electric bass & Nick Millevoi – guitar. Three of the most exciting players in Philadelphia’s multifaceted experimental music scene (having played or currently performing with Make A Rising, Roscoe Mitchell, Dan Scofield, George Korein and the Spleen, Marcus Belgrave, Dan Blacksberg, Circles, Joe Lally & many others) as Many Arms the trio have come together to present a new peak in the new underground progressive rock scene.
"(Many Arms were) formed in October 2007, only three months before their first tour of the Midwest. The three members of the band, Nick Millevoi, Ricardo Lagomasino and John DeBlase are all busy in their own right, but when they play together the sum is greater than that of its parts. Combining progressive song structures, brutally intense improvisation, and an amalgam of musical influences, they pull off quite an exciting live show." - Dustin Hurt, Bowerbird
